Bognor Regis
6th March 2007 : 9pm to 2am
Arrival
On arrival at the theatre, we were given a tour around to get to know the layout. I wasn't aware of many spirits in particular as we wandered around, however as soon as we stepped out onto the stage I was very aware of a lady sat in one of the chairs in the auditorium.
The changing rooms felt like there could possibly be some sort of activity, but I wasn't aware of anything specific.
Stage Area
We spent a period of time on the stage. There was no activity as such to be found, no noises or orbs were spotted, however some orbs were caught on the camera's. It must be remembered though that there is mirror ball hanging from the ceiling near to the stage, so could this possibly be the cause of the orbs which were captured?
Sound Room
In the main part of the sound room there was no activity to report. However, there is a small area at the far end of the sound room. Each of the people who sat in there became more aware of something making them feel a little uneasy. When I was sat in there I did become aware of a young boy, who would have paid visits to the theatre. He was around 8 years old and quite quiet. I didn't feel that he was around there much, and might have been linked to someone working there.
Changing Rooms
There was very little reported phenomena within the changing rooms. I didn't manage to spend time in all of them, but did stay in the one which was reported to be the most active for 20 minutes alone in the dark, without a single thing to report. One of the other members of the group did say they had heard footsteps outside this room in the corridor when they were there, but nothing else.
Auditorium
I was looking forwards very much to spending time in the auditorium after out initial walk around the building. I went and sat with the Victorian lady who I had seen previously and managed to get some details about her. She explained how the layout of the theatre in her day differed from what it was today. The boxes which were on the let and right which overlooked the stage. I also wanted to move the theatre slightly closer towards the seafront.
She had been quite a well to do lady who had lived in Bognor all her life. She used to volunteer to help out around the theatre as she had a love for acting and singing. She was a member of the operatic or choral society which used to gather there on a regular basis, and was in a couple of productions on the stage as an amateur. She also made me very aware of a black and white program which had been produced for one of these shows, which I feel can still be found in either the local library or museum.
I did gather quite a lot of information on this lady including names and dates, but unfortunately the details were lost at the end of the night.
Upstairs room
We sat in the dark in the loft - style room and after a while I was aware of a man who stood behind me. I was starting to feel a bit dizzy, so decided to move into the area closer to the door. Whilst sitting there I became much more aware of an older gentleman, about 5ft 4in who wore a cloth cap. He was greying on top and I feel that he took up helping out around the theatre after retirement. He would have served in the Navy and for some reason I was drawn very much towards submarines. He talked about the grey ones. Again I did get some more information including names and dates but unfortunately these were lost at the end of the evening.
Glass Moving
One group which I wasn't a part of trying a glass moving experiment on the stage area, and did get a connection with a gentleman, but I am unaware of the rest of the information gathered. I went with a group into a room just near the entrance to the theatre and trying some glass moving there. We got information through about an actor who had working at some point in some productions on the theatre in Bognor and had also appeared on TV. He also talked about being in the Dambusters film and had been one of the aircrew. I am currently unaware as to who he is exactly.
Conclusion
This was an interesting night, which although quiet on the more scientific side of things, without much in the way of knocks, bangs, footsteps, apparitions or orbs; there was a fair it to be picked up on mediumistically. It was a great shame that the finer details that were picked up were lost at the end of the night, but perhaps if we re-visit, our spirit friends will decide to re-visit as well.
