REPORT 21st Oct 2006

Arrival

 

On arrival I discovered that I was to be in charge for the evening as a couple of other people had to cancel at the last minute.  With 17 people all ready for a charity evening in a haunted house I decided to start off with a group meditation and then split up into 4 groups. Covering first the downstairs and then upstairs.  Each group kept their findings to themselves until we joined together as a group to see what similarities there were.

 

Meditation

 

We decided to hold the meditation in the upstairs family room as this has more space.  So after getting rid of all the baggage in the entrance hallway everyone sat down to be talked into a short visualisation to see if there was anything they could pick up at all about the place.  One person almost immediately became aware of a young man (about 15) who walked into the room and stood behind him.  Another lady also came up with the name Charles - later we discovered that this was the name of one of the owners and his son.

 

The Dining Room

 

In the first group in the dining room we didn't pick up too much but there was certainly a heavy atmosphere.  We heard footsteps across the ceiling from upstairs and when asked for bangs or raps we could distinctly hear taps from the side wall along the walkway.  The was also an odd glow across the top of the dining table which we couldn't work out where it was coming from, and I certainly never saw it again for the rest of the night.

 

In the second group they had used dowsing rods to get in contact with a lady, and surprisingly a lady from the group in the room next door saw a lady in grey standing in the dining room at this same point in time, although she never knew they were talking to a lady!

 

The third group, although nothing too paranormal happened, had the presence of a man which came very close to someone.  This caused the group to immediately leave the room, after calling me in.  This was a very strong powerful energy of a man (which I had picked up on in a previous investigation in this house).  After asking him to step back and little and calm he stood back and the group were able to return to the room.

 

The fourth group was fantastic.  They hadn't got anything at all in the other rooms so I said I would sit with them in this one.  I asked for the man to show us what he could do, but in a controlled fashion.  I asked for noises lights, or him to show himself. At this point a solid figure stood in front of me and I had to actually move to be able to see around him.  Another member of the group also confirmed that they could see a shadow there.  It was very short (about 5ft) and had the shape of a monk with the hood up.

 

We started to get lights appearing around the room and shooting across the ceiling, witnessed by everyone present, and 2 people could see a couple of lights which just stayed on the table for a good 10 minutes, after I had asked them to light up the table.

 

Next someone sitting at the side just wanted to swing their legs constantly, and when someone else sat in the same place they had exactly the same feelings.  We then had taps which would start at one end of the wall and move across until it got just behind a chair one lady was sitting on.  This seemed to build up, at this point I was called into another room to help out with someone else, but when I returned the chair which the lady was still sitting on was moving.  The group did actually manage to video this, but I'm not sure what they managed to capture.  This stopped so we sorted ourselves out and asked for the same to happen again.  Instead we got a noise from above my head to the right (near to the door) which was a very breathy whisper.  We couldn't make out exactly what they were trying to say, but it happened twice.

 

The Harpsichord Room

 

The first group didn't really experience anything at all in this room, but they did also hear footsteps above the same as the first group in the Dining Room.

 

The second group again didn't really get anything in here.

 

The third group sensed a young girl sitting beside them (someone they had picked up earlier in the kitchen) and someone else said they could see something moving in the corner of the room.  I confirmed clairvoyantly that this was a small brown and white dog - possibly a spaniel.  I also confirmed clairvoyantly that the governess of the house as stood beside the harpsichord watching what was going on.  One person felt their foot being touched, but that was about all.

 

The fourth group didn't really experience anything in this area either.

 

The Kitchen

 

The first group caught orbs on the video camera which came up from the chair beside the fireplace and towards them.  These were 2 separate very large orbs.  There was no movement of air in this room at all and I don't believe these could have been caused by flies or moths as we never saw a single one in all the time we were there.

 

The second group I joined.  In the kitchen in a big old wooden bench type thing with a very high back and space under the seat for storage.  I think it may well have been used in a hallway to hang coats etc??  As it was creaky and old when we first heard the taps coming from it we assumed they were from the 3 people sitting on it.  However, we soon established that this wasn't the case as we managed to start a conversation by asking questions after establishing one tap for yes and two for no.  We worked out that this man was the gamekeeper, and he had lived in a house in or near the grounds.  He still works around the property.

 

We also sensed the cook in this room, who came in and left with the gamekeeper when another lady entered the room who was much more authoritative, we could get no more communication after this.  We also witnessed various lights around the room and a really strong light that came from the doorway into the other small room off the kitchen.  We managed to establish that this wasn't from the group in that room turning on and off lights etc. as it was different to the light you could see around the edge of the doorway.  There were also some other noises like taps coming from towards the office off the kitchen.  But we cannot rule central heating out of that one!

 

The third group didn't experience anything at all in the kitchen and found it very still and quiet.

 

The fourth group again had nothing much to report from the kitchen.

 

When we went upstairs we decided to leave a trigger object on the table in the kitchen.  On the table were some pieces of plastic asparagus so we put one onto a pad and drew around it.  Later on in the evening when we returned this had not just moved slightly, it had been turned over and twisted to one side.

 

Small Room off the Kitchen

 

The first group experienced nothing until just before leaving the room.  There is a flag hanging down from the centre of the ceiling.  This just started moving by itself.  There were no draughts, and when it was stopped it then started t move again after a short while.  We wondered about draughts etc. but I checked on this about 5 times during the night and not once did I see it move again, even when walking swiftly through the door etc.

 

The other two groups experienced nothing at all.

 

One other group could sense feeling really good and then sad, a complete mixture of emotions around the room, but nothing particularly paranormal.  This room is full of objects from the war times and so each object could well hold quite strong emotions.

 

Monk Room

 

By this time a couple of people had left so we moved into 3 groups.  The first group were certain that when they went into the room they could see the statue of the monk moving.  They quickly left the room and all but one of them refused to go back in.

 

Another group could see a shadow of someone in the corner of the room, which unnerved them and after a short while they too left.

 

This room just seemed to have something about it but nothing specific.  Unfortunately I didn't get time to go into this room.

 

Nursery

 

No-one really experienced anything in the nursery, but I did manage to give a short reading to a lady who had a relative come through in there when I called out to ask for anyone to come forward.

 

Museum Room

 

No proper investigation was carried out really in this area and nothing much was sensed here.

 

Family Room

 

The first group in this room had a couple of lights and a sound from near the far window.  I was very aware of a gentleman- who I believe would have been the man of the house, standing to my right, but there wasn't much to report at all.  It was almost as if they had decided to just watch us watching them!!

 

When another group went to go into the room there was the definite smell of cucumber once you start to slice it.  This was definitely not there before.

 

Nothing much else was picked up in this room, although it was getting very late or early into the morning when most groups went into here and so the energy was much lower.  We decided to do some glass moving in the room at about 5am.  I took two groups, the first had a small movement which we established to be from a young boy, the second we managed to get information confirmed from some very close family relatives.

 

Stairway

 

On a previous investigation I had picked up on a man from years and years ago who had bandy legs (like from riding a horse).  But he did also have leg problems as they would give way every so often.  He was certainly still there.

 

When we first went upstairs I took a lady from the first group up the next flight of stairs to show here the secret passageway.  As soon as she got to the top of the steps she completely went really dizzy.  I though she was going to fall back down again.  Her face went bright red very quickly and she had to try and get her breathe back.  For some strange reason I believe this man had decided to step very close to her.  After quite a while of asking him to step back and carrying out some cleansing she was OK, but this took a while.

 

Another group on the stairs were using the dowsing rods and picked up a girl of about 13 who lives in the house.  After a while she wanted to show them to her sisters downstairs and asked them to follow her.  They asked me to come with them to make sure everything was OK.  She took the group back downstairs to the harpsichord room, and when they were trying to establish her name the communication just stopped.  I explained that they would need to get the permission from the governess to talk with the child, after a short while she agree and the communication with the child began once again.  At this point one male could feel a tugging on his trouser leg.  This was very physical and you could actually see his trousers move.  I left the group with the dowsing rods and they managed to establish that she had 2 sisters in the room.  She had not seen the young boy before who was pulling on the trouser leg and they found out that this young boy was a relation of the man in the group.

 

Among other bits of information they also managed to get the name of the other girl who was called Fiona.

 

Conclusion

 

A perfect investigation.  Physical phenomena was experience by everyone on the investigation. We had so many different types of things happening that my job as a medium was made very easy as the spirit people worked directly with all the group.

 

A wonderful place with a real history and a whole range of characters.  It almost seemed as if the entire place was still very much alive with the goings on of days gone by.

REPORT 26th Jan 2007

Arrival

 

On arrival we had a look around the house and took some base line results.  Checking for draughts and taking note of the temperature.  The BBC 48hours person had also come to join us to interview and film some of the goings on.  Unfortunately he was nearly an hour late, so when he arrived we really didn't have much time to talk to him.  There is a link to the program he made at the bottom of the page.

 

Meditation

While the group was doing this, there was a great flash of light which shot across the room from the corner of the room, by the window.  I did go outside afterwards to see if there was any way a flashlight or something could have shone through the window, but outside there is a tree which would have blocked off any of this sort of light.

 

The Dining Room

 

In the dining room there were a few lights seen above the table and near the ceiling towards the windows.  I became very aware of a presence near the left hand window, which a couple of the others also could see.  Almost like a dark shadow.  The room did also seem to getting darker when we were calling out and asking for communication with spirit.

 

I stood to try and get the spirit to move forward and became very drawn towards the left hand corner of the room, by the fireplace.  When in this area I became very aware of a male, he showed himself as being about 69 when he passed to spirit, and showing me a crisp white shirt with black braces, I was made aware of him being a butler within the household.

 

There was a definite feel of stomach pains and some sort of growth in this area before his passing.  He was becoming very distressed with people passing through the family home, which he had come to love and protect.  He spends much time there, although does travel elsewhere as well.  He was very uneasy about a gentleman who comes in visitation also, but never lived at the house.  He talked about this man having connections with royalty and he would have come to the house to pass on important information.  I felt this to have been somewhere around 1750.  The butler gentleman gave me a feel for the 1800's, possibly 1820?

 

He was also not happy with the man who he made me aware of, who was stood in the doorway into the next room (Harpsichord Room).  The man in the doorway wouldn't come any further and I was unable to connect with him.

 

Later I was with a group in the kitchen area, when the group in the Dining Room came and called for me to join them.  They were sure there was a presence in the same corner of the room where I had previously connected to the butler.  They didn't know about our previous connection at all.  There was also now a cold spot here, which one of the members of the group could also feel as it was very icy cold.

 

I was given much the same information as before, but he also talked about the sofa's and chairs in this area, so I am assuming this area was more of a lounge, rather than a dining room when the family was resident there.

 

The Harpsichord Room

 

This was a very quiet room without much happening at all.  One of the previous groups had been in this room and been told to leave, not sure how, but they did all promptly leave that area.

 

The Kitchen

 

We placed a trigger object in this room, as this was the room where we had a trigger object moved before.  This moved slightly, but not much, but interestingly, a drawing of a scribbly line appeared on the paper, and even went so far under the object, it would have been impossible to draw physically without moving one of the objects.

 

We stood in this room for a while and there was a lot of noise, but it felt more like the settling down of an old house more than spirit activity.  We talked about sensing a tall man by the fireplace, but I was unable to connect with him.  I was then very drawn to a table and wanted to try table tipping.  As this was an old table I thought it might be better to start with glass moving and see how we got on.

 

The glass started moving quite quickly and we managed to gain the following information :-

Cook, by the name of Dotty, who was very good at her job.  She was unsure of her age when she died.  She said her apple crumble was good.  She also told us that the man by the fireplace was a vicar who used to visit and work at the house.  She said she was sat in the chair beside the fireplace. She also confirmed that it was the butler in the other room I had been talking to.

 

After this we decided to try table tipping and the table and managed to move across the floor in front of the fireplace, but it was more like she wanted the table to be placed next to her chair - was this where she used to have it?  When I got the table there was an object on top of the table, we weren't sure what this was.  When I was called into the dining room, I kept being told banana's, and so in the kitchen I asked if the object was a banana holder, which was confirmed as yes.  She was also able to move the glass in the direction of where we had placed the object when asked.

 

Monks Room

 

This room has a strange feel to it, but I was unaware of any particular presences in this room.  At the beginning of the evening I did see a flash of light move right across the window in this room though.

 

Nursery

 

I didn't experience anything in this room, but one of the groups was calling out in the dark when something fell on top of someone.  When they switched on the torches there was a scrap of material, which looked like it had come from a rug in there and a small stone next to her.  Had this been thrown?

 

Family Room

 

We decided to try out some scrying and glass moving in this room. I explained what this was and how it worked, as far as I am aware anyway, and we got on with trying to get something.  Scrying is looking in the mirror, asking spirit to draw close and for them to project their image onto the mirror.  We did all manage this with some success and what was most interesting was the fact that with each of the people the same gentleman appeared to be trying to show himself.  He had quite a square shaped face, with a moustache and round dark eyes.  There was a definite sameness between each of the people in each of the separate groups, and the groups didn't see each others attempts either.

 

Following this we also tried some more glass moving, which was very successful.  He managed to make contact with the governess, who could remember our conversation from when I had last visited, she talked about the two children, one boy and one girl.  Thomas also came through with a bit more information.  The monk we had picked up as being the shadowy figure in the doorway downstairs was also spoken to, and told his name was Paul, he was completely indifferent about the children and family members in the house, although the family members didn't appear to particularly like him being around.  He also said that there were 5 other brothers in the house as well.

 

Priest Hole

 

When in the priest hole there was not much happening at all.  When another member of the team went into the Priest Hole with the camera person from the BBC Radio station they could distinctly hear a baby crying, which was also picked up on the camera.  We confirmed with the man in the flat also that there was definitely no babies in the house at all!

 

Gatehouse

 

We took the group up onto the first floor and split into 4 groups to try some glass moving  I explained what was involved and we got started.  Every group was communicating with someone different and all at the same time.

 

On group contacted Thomas, who had been an owner of the house previously.  They managed to get quite a bit of information, although I am not sure what.  The amasing thing was that the glass would actually go over the edge of the table and then continue under the table to come back up again.  I put my finger on the glass also when this happened, and you could definitely feel a strong energy, but I am sure it would have been the pressure of the fingers which stopped the glass from falling onto the floor rather than paranormal activity.

 

Another group had contact with family members and quite a lot of information which all made sense.

 

Another group had contact with family members and also an old friend who was apparently murdered.  He even told them about where the body was!

 

The last group made contact with a soldier called Cecil.  We was unhappy where we was and wanted to move away from the house.  They also established that he was married to Dotty who we had been talking to in the kitchen earlier.  I tried to let him know that I would help him out after the session, but he was most insistent, and the glass just would not move away from me. It even followed me to the opposite side of the table!  I called in one of my guides to take care of the situation and once I had seen him and Dotty move away, the group then tried to see if they could get contact with him again.  This was not possible, but a friend of his also came through called Harold. 

 

Harold also wanted to move on, and we had the same problem with the glass refusing to move away from me.  One of the people around the table had been an officer in the army and was a higher rank than Harold.  He asked that if he ordered Harold to move towards the light that he would as a lower ranking soldier.  Harold agreed and he was then ordered to move towards the light.

 

Then one of the other groups had the vicar come through.  He had come to the room with Dotty when she was called to join her husband to move on.  He also wanted to move on with them and so I asked my guides to step in for this one as well.  Once again it was impossible for us to connect with him again afterwards - so I think they may have all worked??  This type of work is all still very new to me, and a bit strange!

 

We then went up to the second floor to do a standing séance. We asked for lights, noises and touches.  There was definitely something in the air.  I saw a shadow move behind a few people opposite me, a couple of people experienced a feeling of being touched by someone or something.

 

Conclusion

 

A very good investigation with some good information being picked up.  Physical phenomena was experience by many on the investigation. We had quite a few different things happen throughout the evening, and I think they al found it very interesting, and that each person would have got something from the night.

 

This is one of my most favourite places to investigate, as there is a wonderful feel about the place and some great activity.  Sometimes it is almost as if the spirits are getting used to people wanting to communicate with them and are wanting to be noticed.

REPORT 24th Feb 2007

Arrival

 

I was particularly looking forward to this investigation as I am starting to get a great love for this property and the spirits associated with it.  I was also going along with a whole group of other mediums, so I felt that I could relax more and not have to be on the ball so much.  Also not having to organise people and ensure they were all happy and OK throughout was enjoyable.  Unlike previous times I had not received any information on the way to the location, so I arrived quite fresh.

 

The Dining Room

 

For a room in which on previous investigations we had always had things occurring, this room was very inactive on this night.  There was the feeling of a young girl with blonde hair being around and also a male in the room who was near to me, but apart from this not much more.  The butler who I had a lot of contact with previously, just didn't appear to be there at all.

 

Top of the Stairs

 

We walked to the top of the stairs and heard very audibly a loud huff behind me and in front of another group member.  We then both experienced very laboured breathing and both had trouble catching our breath, at the same time feeling quite dizzy.  This reminded me of a previous investigation where one of the guests had experienced dizziness and breathlessness at the top of the stairs too.  Also later on in the night when I went up the stairs, on the way down I was very aware of a male rushing down the stairs behind me.

 

The Kitchen

 

This room was also very quiet against the usual feelings, knocks etc.  We did try some table tilting and once again became aware of a young girl.  One member of the group picked up the name Rosie.  We all experienced a bad back as well, which I don't think was just due to the size of the table.  The cook was definitely not back though and it was much more quiet.

 

Monks Room

 

The only thing which occurred in this room was a pain which I got in the centre of my chest.  I asked for them to take this away and let one of the others feel this same sensation.  A few seconds later it had gone from me and the other person in the room was feeling a pressure to his chest.  He asked if they could also do this in his back or push him and he definitely got this sensation as well.

 

The other half of our group got some cold breezes and touching of hair in this room.  They were also aware of someone standing in the doorway.

 

Nursery

 

I never got the time to spend time in this room, but the other half of our group went in there and got a feeling of sadness. They picked up a young girl with blonde hair and a baby crying.  They also got the name of Charlotte.

 

Family Room

 

In this room we got a lot of knocks and raps in response to our voices, however we were unable to establish a good enough rapor to be able to establish any good information.  We became aware of a gentleman who walked towards us, (he seemed to me to be the same man who I seen in the mirrors when we did the scrying last time I was there) a lady who was around with the name Elizabeth and also a child who was looking at us from around he wooden post in the centre of the room.

 

We did see some lights from the two far corners of the room and when we asked them to try and show us an arm or a leg there was a sort of light which looked like an arm starting to form.

 

The other half of our group in this room became aware of a tall man with the name of John who would keep an eye on things.  They also experienced some cool breezes in here as well.

 

Priest Hole

 

When sitting in the dark in the priest hole we both became aware of a lady in her mid 20s which blonde hair in a ponytail.  She had a baby with her and the two of them had passed at the same time.  Felt that she had jumped from somewhere or fallen from somewhere.  We both experienced some very cold breezes across us and pressure on the head, chest and right eye.  We both picked up all these sensations but at different times, almost as if she was passing between both of us.  At points the atmosphere would become dense and there were a lot of swirly colours to be seen.  It was almost as if she was trying to form a face to show us.

 

Gatehouse

 

On the first floor in the gatehouse we decided to try some glass moving.  It started quite quickly and the details we received were :-

18 year old girl by the name of Olivia who drowned in the moat, whilst she was doing some washing.  She came from a family of farm labourers who lived in the area.  When she passed over she was engaged to a man called James who was a soldier, but he married to someone else after she had passed over.  She lived around the 1500's.  She had come in visitation to try and find James but couldn't locate him.

 

Thomas Childs, born in 1803, died before 1860 aged 54.  This was all making some sense until it went on to talk about the whole family who was poisoned by a messenger from the King.  They were poisoned by arsenic.  There was also a young girl called Rosie who passed at the age of 11, which matched up to the details we had picked up in the house, whose mothers name was Margaret.  We were unable to match Margaret and Rosie up with any details within the house.

 

Trance Work

 

In the early hours of the morning we decided to sit as a small group and try some trance work to see if we could get any of the spirit people from the building to come through and either show themselves or talk to us.  This was a new experience for me as I have not tried to do this on an investigation before and I wasn't sure how well it would work. 

 

I sat and asked for Thomas Childs to come through, as we had already had some contact from him earlier in the evening.  Although he never spoke he did manage to show himself and the others noticed changes to my face, with a change in hair style, nose and face shape. When we looked at the pictures on the wall afterwards we discovered that it wasn't the Thomas I was asking for who came through, but his son, who was also named Thomas.

 

Another member also tried to do this and managed to talk.  Robert came through and talked about being annoyed with the people coming through and disrespecting his house.  He said his wife was somewhere around but he didn't know where.  He confirmed that he smoked a pipe at odd times.  He was happy with us visiting and was happy to talk to us.  He said he had a son who didn't live there, but thought it was his house as well, although it wasn't!  It was a very impressive demonstration of trance work and I feel very privileged to have been part of the experience.

 

Conclusion

 

Another interesting investigation with a small amount going on.  The raps in the family room, chest pain in the Monks room and the huff at the top of the stairs were the only really good pieces of evidence, but it was a fun evening just the same.  The most impressive part of the entire night was definitely the trance work at the end.

Downstairs under the staircase – glass moving

Family Room - Downstairs

Thomas killed Mary due to incest and cheating on another man.
They had a two year old child, Charlotte. Maybe mucking around with them
Two lights near the window flashed, but may have been a torch outside?
Nickname ‘Queenie’ was picked up and was mother to Mary. She was glad Mary was dead due to the affair.

Kitchen
Figure was seen at the window facing onto rear garden area.
Picked up on a chef
David and Karen felt drunk and drained of energy.

Children’s Room
Two light orbs were seen – one ner to the cot and the other near the bed.
Picked up on a 6 year old girl named Charlotte or Claire.

Family Room – Upstairs
Picked up the name Mary
‘The Good Ship Lollipop’
A small dog.
‘General’ – in a soldiers uniform wth flicked hair. Smoked either cigars or a pipe.
Smoking jacket in purple and black, with a shirt and tie. The name of Charles.
Black shadow was seen near the doorway.
Canadian.

Stairs
Heddwen saw something on the top of the stairs, but not sure what.
Graham saw shadows in the top fireplace.
