Reigate Caves, Off High Street, Reigate, Surrey
8th April 2006 : 8pm to 12am
Address : Reigate Caves, Off High Street, Reigate, Surrey
Arrival
On arrival at the site we were shown an area to leave our bags etc. and were instructed that we were not to touch the walls in the caves or tunnels, as they were wanting to keep them in good condition.
Following this we were lead through the castle grounds to the entrance to the caves.
Initial Walk
We walked as a group round the 3 main caves and through the interlinking tunnels with the torch lights on, just to get a fee for the places and get our bearings.
On this walk when near the dinosaur cave (so called due to the large model dinosaur at the end!) I sensed a male presence, more of a residual energy than anything else. He would have been around 5ft 4in and was dressed very smartly in military uniform. He would have been around the age of 60, with white - or greying hair, and would have worked more at a desk than anything else towards to end of his days with the army.
The other two caves didn't really have anything at all to pick up on and al seemed very quiet.
Groups
We split up into groups for the rest of the investigation, with each group getting a chance to sit in each area for a period of time, in the stillness and darkness. Various groups called out for spirit to let themselves be known, but nothing was picked up at all.
The only interesting thing was caught on camera, in the same area which I had picked up the spirit of the gentleman earlier, I was trying to get more information from him, when a colleague took a pic and there was the distinct image of a couple of legs in that area. But nothing too conclusive!
As there didn't appear to be much happening at all, we decided to call it a night a bit earlier than usual at midnight.
Conclusion
A pretty uneventful evening. Very quite, no movement, and although the general atmosphere was great, in pitch black caves, for ghost hunting this was very still.
We did, however, get a chance to have a quick look around the other set of caves (currently closed as unsafe) and there was definitely much more of an atmosphere and I think there would be possibly much more to pick up on there. This may well be due to the props used there, which are all old artefacts.
